Orhun Kartal was born in Manisa in 1969 and graduated from Ankara Science High School in 1986. He completed his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at Boğaziçi University in 1991.
He has over 25 years of executive and entrepreneurial experience in construction, contracting, real estate, and energy sectors. Orhun Kartal has led the development and delivery of numerous construction and contracting projects across more than seven countries on three continents, managing teams of over 6,000 employees. While focusing on the construction, energy, and agriculture sectors, he has played a key role in significant projects in the renewable energy field, particularly in solar energy. Additionally, he has continued to invest in agricultural production and real estate.
Between 1991 and 2012, he served as President and Founding Partner of Kayı Construction Inc. In 2013, he founded Hun Group of Companies with the aim of developing, operating, and investing in renewable energy projects such as hydroelectric and solar power plants. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board and Founder. The Hun Group of Companies continues its operations today, owning and operating solar power plants with a total capacity of 120 MW in Turkey and Eastern Europe, along with a 40 MW hydroelectric power plant in Turkey.
In addition, in 2017, he acquired Koray Construction and Real Estate Group, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board and Majority Shareholder. Koray Construction and Real Estate Group has successfully undertaken and completed numerous construction projects both in Turkey and internationally, including in countries such as Russia, the United Kingdom, Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Saudi Arabia—ranging from shopping malls and hotels to towers, educational buildings, school campuses, and residential projects. He is married and has three children.
